SANDAKAN: A surau on Jalan SMK Beluran was destroyed in a fire on Tuesday. 

Beluran Fire and Rescue Station Chief Edoen Macheal said they received an emergency call about the fire at 10.55pm.

“The fire involved a wooden surau which was completely razed. 

“Our team deployed multiple firefighting methods, including a 100-foot stream, water jet and relay line, drawing from the fire engine’s tank,” he said. 

The operation ended at 12.16am after the team ensured there were no other hazards. 

No casualties were reported. The cause and estimated losses are still under investigation.
