Navy man, pedestrian killed in motorcycle accident in KK

Kota Kinabalu: Two men -- a Royal Malaysian Navy sailor and a pedestrian -- were killed in an accident on Jalan UMS, here, Thursday night, said police.

The incident occurred around 8:30pm when the pedestrian in his 40s suddenly crossed a road, resulting in a collision with a Yamaha LC motorcycle, said police in a statement.

The pillion rider of the motorcycle operated by the navy man was injured and was receiving treatment at Queen Elizabeth II Hospital.

Preliminary investigations by the Kota Kinabalu District Police indicated that the motorcyclist could not avoid the pedestrian due to the suddenness of the crossing.
