Kota Kinabalu: A joint international sailing programme organised by Sabah Sailing Association (SSA) in collaboration with Kinabalu Yacht club (KYC) and Fukuoka Sailing Club from Japan was successfully held in Tanjung Aru on January 4.
The one-day event involved 25 sailors from SSA while the visiting 11-member Japanese team led by team manager Hideaki Sakaguchu with Kanade Nakamura as director comprised members Saori Sakaguchi, Haruna Hirowatari, Ayako Nagami, Aki Nagakura, Kantaro Nagakura, Sawako Nagakura, Miyu Sakaguchi, Hana Nagami and Shunkai Hirowatari.
SSA president Zainal Madi said the main aim of the programme was to foster international collaboration and skill development through sailing.
The presentation of burgee ceremony was attended by KYC Commodore Albert Shim, SSA vice president Ahmad Yusoff and KYC club manager Tony Lai.
Meanwhile, Tony said the next event to be held at the club is the City Day Open Regatta 2025 on February 8-9 and they are expecting participants from overseas.
