KOTA KINABALU: Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) has expressed its readiness to represent the Chinese community in urban areas, emphasising inclusivity and support from all parts of Sabah.
"Star is a party for all. If the rakyat give us support in any part of Sabah, including Chinese areas, we will respond," said President Datuk Seri Jeffrey Kitingan during a Chinese New Year walkabout in Damai, Luyang, here on Sunday.
The walkabout, a rare appearance in an urban Chinese-majority constituency, sparked speculation about Star’s potential interest in contesting seats like Luyang.
However, Jeffrey downplayed this, highlighting the event's focus on community engagement.
On coalition matters, Jeffrey revealed ongoing discussions with PBS and a commitment to collaborating with local parties like Warisan while reiterating the importance of unity for Sabah's progress.
He also criticised the presence of peninsular-based parties in Sabah, describing it as a threat to the state's political autonomy, while reaffirming Star's dedication to women's representation and announcing future walkabouts in Keningau, Tambunan, and the East Coast.
