Kota Kinabalu: Maintaining public order has not prevented the Royal Malaysian Police from carrying out their corporate social responsibility (CSR).

The Kota Kinabalu District Police Headquarters (IPD) carried out the mission with NGOs for students at two schools in Inanam and Telipok, Monday.

In Telipok, 60 students from SK Natai, while 29 students from SK Poring-Poring in Inanam received donations in the form of school supplies and food.

Both schools are within the Kota Kinabalu area, but are located in remote hilly locations which are quite challenging to travel to, similar to other rural schools in the interior of Sabah.

Additionally, 10 underprivileged families also received food baskets containing basic necessities such as rice, sugar, cooking oil and milk.

District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Kasim Muda, said a total of 89 students at the two schools each received donations of school equipment through the “Masih Ada Yang Sayang” Programme.

He said the programme aimed to ease the financial burden of the recipient’s families while also encouraging the students to continue striving to achieve excellence in their studies.

“The ‘Masih Ada Yang Sayang’ programme clearly proves the PDRM’s concern for the well-being of the community, thus, strengthening the close relationship between the police and the local community. “This is a very good effort to bring closer the relationship between the community, schools and security agencies such as the PDRM,” he said at the event.

Also present was the Headmaster of Sekolah Kebangsaan Natai, Telipok, Zulfiqkar Abd Mues.

He added that the PDRM also sees this programme as a platform to reach out to the community, understand the issues and challenges faced by the community, and provide the necessary advice and assistance.

“This proves that the relationship between the police and the community is not just based on law enforcement, but also on the values of humanity and love,” he said.
