Kota Kinabalu: Deputy Minister of Higher Education Datuk Mustapha Sakmud has requested Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) to ensure that planned programmes are carried out carefully so as not to create confusion in society.
“Racial and religious harmony must be prioritised with the principle of finding common ground and respecting differences.
“Although we consist of various races and religions, there are many similarities in our noble values, especially in social ethics.
However, at the same time, we need to respect each other’s religious beliefs.
“I am confident that if Malaysian society adheres to this principle, we can reduce confusion and prejudice between us,” he said, in response to an outburst by non-Muslim bumiputra NGOs over the forced participation of non-Muslim students in Islamic activities at a mosque.
