PETALING JAYA: The police have taken housing and local government minister Nga Kor Ming’s statement regarding a Christmas celebration organised by his ministry last month.

Nga said officers from the Tapah police station in Perak took 90 minutes to record his statement at his office in Putrajaya.

He said this followed police reports lodged by PAS, but that the police were unable to specify the laws under which their investigation was being conducted.

“This is because the ministry celebrated Christmas on Christmas Day. I find it strange – surely we wouldn’t celebrate Deepavali on Christmas or Hari Raya Aidilfitri during Chinese New Year?

“Naturally, we celebrated Christmas on Christmas Day. Moreover, those who sang Christmas songs were Kadazandusun Christians from Sabah and Sarawak,” Sin Chew quoted him as saying.

Nga also said he had to cancel three programmes due to the police visit.
