RANAU: Blood supply at Ranau Hospital is now becoming more critical and the public is urged to come forward to donate blood to meet the needs of patients here.
The stock in the blood bank is now at a very critical level, where for Group A only 1 pint left, Group B (1 pint), Group AB (0 pints) and Group O (1 pint).
The Ranau Hospital blood bank calls and asks for the kindness of all parties including Ranau Hospital staff to come forward to donate blood to replenish the blood supply stock at the hospital.
Ranau Hospital Director Dr Eva Chandra Susanti Binti Suhaili said that they need help from the community to donate blood en masse at this time.
“This is due to the reduced stock, in addition to the increased need and to ensure that services, especially the Ranau Hospital blood bank, are not affected.
“The need for this blood is to ensure the safety of pregnant mothers, thalassemia patients, accident victims who have lost blood and the like,” she said.
Dr Eva added that the Ranau Hospital Blood Bank Unit will also be carrying out several mobile blood donations and it is hoped that many will be able to attend and become donors because a drop of blood means a lot to them.
