PENAMPANG: District police are tracking down a motorcyclist involved in a hit-and-run case that killed a Chinese national pedestrian near the Putatan JKR traffic light on Wednesday.
The Penampang District Police Chief, Supt Sammy Newton, said that the Investigation and Traffic Enforcement Division of the Penampang District Police Headquarters had responded to the 1.30pm incident.
"A police team rushed to the scene and found that the victim had been taken by medical personnel in an ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kota Kinabalu while the motorcyclist fled the scene.
"The victim is a 50-year-old Chinese citizen believed to have been hit by a motorcycle while crossing the road alone from Pan Borneo Hotel towards Servay Putatan.
"The victim died while receiving treatment at the hospital due to head trauma," he said in a statement.
