Chinese national killed in Putatan hit-and-run
Supt Sammy said the victim later succumbed to severe head injuries.
PENAMPANG: Police are tracking down a motorcyclist involved in a hit-and-run case that killed a Chinese national near the Putatan JKR traffic light on Wednesday.

Penampang District Police Chief Supt Sammy Newton said the 50-year-old victim was crossing the road alone from a hotel towards the Servay Supermarket area when he was struck by a motorcycle at 1.30am.

“A team rushed to the scene after receiving a call from the public, only to find that the victim had already been taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital by paramedics.

“The motorcyclist was nowhere to be found,” he said, Friday.

“The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he added.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the accident or with information that may help identify the motorcyclist to contact investigating officer Insp Saparia Ladoni at 019-8095133.
