Kota Kinabalu: A 53-year-old man pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan to raping his friend’s niece.
Molidi Gaduik is accused of raping the 10-year-old girl between 2am and 3am in October 2019 at a house in Tamparuli.
The offence under Section 376(2)(e) of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 20 years, and whipping, on conviction.
The court offered bail of RM5,000 in two local sureties and ordered to report to nearest police station once a month.
Molidi’s case would be brought to court again for mention on Feb 18 this year.
Earlier, the prosecution suggested RM10,000 bail for Molidi with several conditions.
But Molidi asked for the bail to be reduced, saying he did not have a fixed income.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Shafeerah Mad Iskim appeared for the prosecution while Molidi was not represented.
