KOTA KINABALU: A disturbing video showing the carcass of an elephant without its head has surfaced, sparking concern amongst conservationists and the public.

The video, reportedly taken yesterday along the Kalabakan-Sapulut road, was shared this morning in a private Facebook group named Borneo Mammals Club.

According to the post, the carcass was discovered by a passer-by driving along the road.

“The elephant was found by someone driving along the Kalabakan-Sapulut road. DaMaI (Danau Girang Field Centre) and JHL (Sabah Wildlife Department) have been alerted. It should still be there today, as it may take some time to bury it,” the post stated.
