LAHAD DATU: Parti Warisan (Warisan) is confident in its ability to defend the four State seats (DUNs) – Silam, Tungku, Segama and Kunak – in Lahad Datu parliamentary constituency, which were previously won by Warisan, Lahad Datu Warisan Division Deputy Chief Datuk Mohd Yusof Apdal said.
The Lahad Datu Member of Parliament said Warisan had always been consistent in its struggle.
“We are not a political party that changes frequently. Our method is to convince the people to give us a chance to govern the State because our spirit has remained the same from the past until now, with our priority being to restore the rights of Sabah, especially those enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
“Our struggle, even though we are in the opposition, continues, and we fight not to slander. We explain to the people of Sabah and the Malaysian Government what we truly want the people of Sabah to understand and know. That is our struggle; ‘we are very consistent’,” he said when met at the official opening of the Hakka Night Market in conjunction with the 2025 Chinese New Year celebration.
Yusof said that Warisan is not like other political parties that merely seize opportunities to govern, adding that the party always strives to do what is best for Sabah and its people.
Meanwhile, Yusof also expressed his willingness to be a candidate if given the opportunity by the leadership in the coming State Election (PRN).
He did not target any specific seat in the Lahad Datu parliamentary constituency, leaving that decision to the Warisan leadership.
“I cannot ‘target a seat’ since I am a Member of Parliament. But if a ‘seat’ is offered, I would also like it if there is an opportunity,” he said.
Earlier, Yusof was happy with the unity and harmony showcased by the multicultural and multi-religious communities through the Chinese New Year Night Market Festival.
He noted that differences in religion, ethnicity and culture do not hinder the creation of a harmonious atmosphere.
He said the Night Market Festival not only strengthens kinship and unity but also provides opportunities and benefits from an economic standpoint.
