KOTA KINABALU: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Majlis Ugama Islam Sabah (Muis) and Zecon Berhad for a student housing development.
The project, worth RM1.3 billion, will be located on 15 acres of Muis land next to the Faculty of Medicine at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS).
The development will include 1,610 apartments, accommodating over 6,700 students and staff.
The project, set to begin in late 2025, will create 500-600 job opportunities. The land will remain under Muis ownership, following the Build, Lease, Maintain & Transfer (BLMT) model.
The MoU was inked today by Muis Chairman Datuk Seri Haji Yahya Hussin and Zecon CEO Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad.
