SANDAKAN: Village chiefs and Village Development and Security Committees (JKKKs) in Karamunting no longer need to go to the Sandakan Native Court at Mile 7 to obtain document confirmation letters.
Karamunting Assemblyman, Datuk George Hiew Vun Zin, said the matter was decided after a discussion with Orang Kaya Kaya (OKK) Ahmad Lukman Rusli last Friday.
The meeting was held to address issues that burdened villagers, particularly the delay in obtaining a letter of confirmation of official documents.
“Previously, villagers had to go to Mile 7 just to obtain a letter of confirmation of documents. This was very inconvenient for them, especially for those who do not have a vehicle or sufficient finance for the fare to the Native Court.
“We are very grateful to OKK Ahmad Lukman Rusli for taking the time to listen to the problems of the people in Karamunting and for his commitment to help,” George said in a statement.
OKK Ahmad Lukman agreed to give permission to the village heads and JKKK heads appointed in the Karamunting area to issue letters of confirmation according to the set procedures.
“This step is very important so that the villagers no longer have to waste time and energy to obtain letters of confirmation. I hope that this initiative can speed up the process of solving the people’s problems,” said George.
George also expressed his hope that the community leaders at the grassroots including the Kapitans, JKKK leaders and appointed village chiefs will be able to solve the people’s issues directly.
“With this, I hope that all local community leaders will be able to play a more important role and carry out their respective responsibilities in helping to solve the problems of the residents directly,” he said.
George hopes that the step may increase the effectiveness of administration at the village level as well as improve the lives of Karamunting residents.
