Closure of Kota Kinabalu roads, parking lots for Chinese New Year Carnival 2025
Kota Kinabalu: Selected routes and parking spaces will be temporarily closed to make way for the Chinese New Year Carnival 2025 celebrations at Padang Merdeka here from January 24 - 26.

Dewan Bandaraya Koa Kinabalu (DBKK) in a statement, here, Wednesday, said the closures would be implemented in several phases, beginning with partial closure of Jalan Padang parking area (in front of Padang Merdeka) from Jan 16 at 1am until Jan 23 at 11pm to accommodate stage equipment storage.

From Jan 24 at 1am until Jan 26 at 11pm, the parking area along Jalan Padang and the temporary bus terminal will be closed to provide designated parking for VVIP guests attending the carnival.

Additionally, periodic closures will be enforced along Jalan Padang, from Jalan Istana junction to KFC Bandaran, from 4pm–11pm during the carnival days (Jan 24-26).

DBKK advised the public to comply with instructions from enforcement officers on duty and to use alternative routes to ensure traffic safety and smooth flow during the celebration period.
