Kota Kinabalu: A 21-year-old man was charged with having 81.15gm of syabu on Wednesday.
Sheikh Mohammad Hazmi Abdul Malik, 21, pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan, to the charge against him.
Sheikh was accused of having the drug at 10.30pm on Jan 4 this year at a bedroom of a house in Taman Sri Kepayan, here.
The offence under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act and punishable under Section 39A(2)(r) of the same Act which provides for between five years and a life imprisonment, and whipping at least 10 strokes, on conviction.
The court set Feb 24 this year for mention pending the chemist’s report on the drug and no bail was offered to Sheikh pending the disposal of his case.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Shafeerah Mad Iskim appeared for the prosecution while counsel Farrah Hamdain defended Sheikh. In another court, a man claimed trial to having 31.71gm of syabu.
Jieromi Fobi made the plea before Sessions Court Judge Marlina Ibrahim, when the charge was read to him.
He allegedly had the drug at 5pm on Aug 12, 2024 at the Inanam area, near here.
Jieromi’s case would be mentioned back on Feb 24 this year and he was ordered remanded further as the charge against him has no provision for bail.
During the proceedings, Jieromi was not represented and the court advised him to contact his family to find a counsel to represent him.
