Facebook post about 'ham' that is alleged to insult Islam.
Its director-general Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee said that the department had filed a police report for further investigation and action.
“Jakim is also working with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to restrict the account and remove the content,” he said in a statement today.
Sirajuddin said Jakim would not tolerate any actions that mock Islamic teachings or offend the sensitivities of Muslims.
He also urged all parties to practise respect and tolerance as well to remain calm and allow authorities to conduct their investigations.
“Islam’s position as the religion of the Federation as stated in the Constitution, must be respected at all times,” he added.
Harith Iskander, 54, is alleged to have uploaded the post during the recent controversy over the halal status of 'ham and cheese' sandwich.
