 Indonesian man,  Filipina jailed for overstaying
Antonius was found staying in the State after her social visit pass had been expired on March 9, 2007 and had overstayed for 17 years and 10 months.
Kota Kinabalu: An Indonesian and a Filipino were jailed a year each for staying in the State for 17 years after their social visit passes had expired.

Indonesian Antonius Boli Buga, 54, Ursula Kuma, 49, pleaded guilty separately before Sessions Court Judge Hurman Hussain, to the charge against them.

Antonius was found staying in the State after her social visit pass had been expired on March 9, 2007 and had overstayed for 17 years and 10 months.

She was arrested on Jan 10 this year at 12.50am at a house in Entabean, Jalan Tenom Lugud.

Meanwhile, Ursula Kuma, 49, was arrested on the same day and at the same place after his social visit pass had expired on Jan 31, 2007 and overstayed for 17 years and 11 months.

The offence under Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 carries a fine of at least RM10,000, or a jail term of up to five years, or both, on conviction.

After paying the fine or serving the jail sentence, Roni was ordered referred to the Immigration Department for deportation.

The court ordered the duo to serve the jail sentence from the date of their arrest.

After serving the jail sentence, they were ordered referred to the Immigration Department for further action.

Prosecuting Officer Chin Tze Mee appeared for the prosecution while the duo were unrepresented.
