KOTA KINABALU: All government policies and programmes being planned must prioritise the people’s prosperity to ensure that all levels of society benefit from every development carried out, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
In line with this commitment, he said the state government continues to emphasise ensuring the people, particularly those in the low- and middle-income groups, have access to comfortable housing.
According to him, apart from constructing low-cost housing and affordable public housing projects, the government is also continuing the construction of Rumah Mesra SMJ, launched in 2022.
As of October 2024, a total of 4,482 Rumah SMJ units have been built.
“For 2025, a total allocation of RM250 million, representing a 100 per cent increase, has been set aside for the construction of 3,000 Rumah SMJ units across all 73 state constituencies in Sabah,” he said at the launch of the Sabah People’s Housing Scheme (SRRS) at the project site, 360 Boulevard Bundusan, on Sunday.
Assistant Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Isnin Aliasnih delivered his speech.
