SANDAKAN: The Ministry of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship (MIDE) is coordinating several investment opportunities in the state.
Its Minister, Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe, said that among them were two projects in Sipitang involving oil and gas, as well as the Palm Oil Industrial Cluster (POIC) in Lahad Datu, where work will soon commence.
He also said that the RM30 billion investment would provide benefits to the surrounding areas.
Meanwhile, in POIC Sandakan, two investment coordination efforts involve the proposal for the establishment of a Green Technology Park, along with the use of biomass and related technologies, which will open up local economic opportunities.
Phoong said that the initiative to establish a special committee or task force to coordinate these investments is also aimed at discussing these potentials in greater detail. He made these remarks during a press conference, here.
Also present were Sandakan MP, Vivian Wong Shir Yee, and other members of the DAP committee.
Phoong was in Sandakan for two days as part of the DAP Sabah tour, meeting with the people in the districts.
Regarding the tour, he said that Sandakan is the fifth location, with Tawau and other areas to follow.
In other developments, he said that DAP Sabah would not compromise on issues of corruption and urged the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to promptly complete investigations into reported corruption cases.
