Kota Kinabalu: Petronas reportedly announced on Tuesday that it will decommission the 500-kilometre Kimanis-Bintulu gas pipeline in operation since early 2014.
The decommissioning plans for the next three years encompass the plugging and abandonment of approximately 153 wells and roughly 37 offshore facilities,
Reuters reported citing Petronas's activity outlook report.
The decision to decommission the pipeline follows a leak in 2022 that forced the shutdown of the Dua Malaysia LNG terminal.
In November of last year, Petronas lifted the force majeure on gas supply to the terminal after resolving the issue.
