Kota Kinabalu: A 25-year-old man was fined RM1,500 or jailed a month by the Magistrate’s Court here for assaulting a man, last year.
Mohd Anwar Jori pleaded guilty to voluntarily causing hurt to Muhd Azlan Shah Marsih, 35, on Sept 11, 2024, at 6pm, in a house at Taman Jumbo, Putatan.
The charge under Section 323 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to one year or a fine of up to RM2,000 or both, on conviction.
The facts of the case presented by the prosecution, stated that the complainant was punched by Anwar for failing to repay a debt.
The complainant suffered neck injuries and head pain as a result of the assault.
In another case, a 33-year-old man was charged with threatening to injure a man, two years ago.
Nelson Nicolas pleaded not guilty to committing the offence by sending a Whatapps text message to Petrus Ekuh on July 16, 2023, at 6.58pm, at Kg Bokok Kituau, Penampang.
Nelson was charged under Section 507 of the Penal Code.
The court fixed March 6 for mention and released the accused on a bail of RM1,600 in two sureties.
