‘Pahang can be beaten; be smart, be clinical’
SABAH FC will be taking on Sri Pahang FC in tonight’s Malaysia Cup semi-final second leg tie at the Stadium Majlis Perbandaran Temerloh at 8.30pm.

No doubt to play away and in front of the Sri Pahang supporters will be a difficult task for any team especially in a Cup competition.

But Sabah FC has proven before that Sri Pahang can be beaten even with their home support.

However, it will require sheer determination from the players and they must be fully focussed if they hope to achieve victory.

The players must realise they are only a match away to show how badly they want to be in the final.

Hopefully head Coach Martin Stano has done his homework and prepared the team well in training to draw up an appropriate strategy.

As usual, the team needs to play smart and avoid making any silly mistakes. Most important of all, we need to be clinical with our chances.

Joao Pedro is back on the score-sheet after managing a goal in our last Super League game against Negeri Sembilan.

Let’s hope he will keep up the scoring touch and continue to find the net.

I also hope Darren Lok, Stuart Wilkin, Saddil Ramdani and the others will be able to put their mark on the score-sheet tonight as well.

Early goals will be very important to the team not only to calm the players’ nerves but also to put the pressure on Sri Pahang.

The last time Sabah appeared in a Malaysia Cup final was more than two decades ago in 2003 when we lost to Selangor MPPJ 0-3.

This will be a golden opportunity for us to make it to the final again and we have 90 minutes to do it.

Anyway, all said and done, I believe the team knows too well what it takes to win and it is not going to be easy.

Let’s fully focus on the game tonight.

Hopefully, all the players are fit and well. Whoever is taking the field should give his best and must show the desire and hunger to try and win the tie.

The fans here at home and I have the confidence that the team can bag this vital win and I am certain there will be many Sabah FC supporters in the stands to cheer the team on as well.

So let’s win it for the fans.

Happy Chinese New Year and a win would serve as a nice Ang Pao for the fans.
