SANDAKAN: The decomposed body of a local man was discovered in a single-storey wooden house at Sri Taman, Mile 3 1/2 on Sunday.

Acting district police chief Supt Ramasamy Kuppan said they received information from the public about the incident around 11.30am.

Police were alerted after reports of blood dripping from the floor of the house occupied by the deceased.

Upon arrival, officers noticed a foul odour inside the residence, prompting them to call the Fire Department to unlock the padlocked grille door.

The 47-year-old man's body was found lying in a bedroom and has since been sent to the Duchess of Kent Hospital's Forensic Unit for a post-mortem examination.

Ramasamy said that initial investigations revealed no signs of foul play, and the case has been classified as a sudden death report.
