Efficiency, speed must in DBKK’s dealings: Chief Minister

Kota Kinabalu: There must be efficiency and speed when implementing Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) policies, programs and services.

DBKK has taken on greater responsibilities in maintaining the highest standards of service delivery since becoming a city (in 2000), Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor, said.

He said ratepayers are increasingly demanding faster and more efficient services, especially in today’s fast-paced environment.

“Therefore, efficiency and speed must be consistently implemented and practised in the execution of all policies, programs, and services planned for the well-being of the people,” he said.

Hajiji was speaking at the DBKK Appreciation ceremony in conjunction with the 25th Silver Jubilee at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) Saturday night. 

He said as a progressive local authority (PBT), DBKK has undertaken various initiatives to enhance administrative efficiency, encourage innovation and improve service delivery to the public.

“These initiatives also strengthen Kota Kinabalu’s position as a sustainable and people-friendly city.

Among the initiatives are implementation of the Kota Kinabalu Smart City programme in collaboration with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), strengthening of existing laws, improvements to the road and public transportation system, and the upgrading of Kota Kinabalu City’s basic infrastructure through applications for projects under the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK-13), along with several other initiatives benefiting the city’s residents.

He also urged all DBKK employees to maintain a culture of excellence in line with stakeholder expectations and the needs of Kota Kinabalu residents, as they are the unsung heroes of the city.

He said the dedication of DBKK personnel is crucial in realising the government’s vision of making Kota Kinabalu a prosperous, livable, sustainable, competitive, and resilient city.
