14 students in Tongod relocated for SPM exam

TONGOD: A total of 14 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates from four flood-affected villages here, were evacuated by the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) and transported to Kampung Imbak before being taken to the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tongod dormitory to prepare for their examination today (Monday).

Tongod District APM officer, Junior Lieutenant (PA) Richie Hezron Pudil said the 14 students included six from Kampung Keramuak, five from Kampung Kuala Keramuak, two from Kampung Kenang-Kenangan, and one from Kampung Tenaga Baru.

“The operation to relocate the SPM candidates began at 8.49am and they arrived at Kampung Imbak at 9.50 am. 

“The villagers had reported the flood situation, including concerns about the affected SPM candidates to the Kuamut Community Development Leaders Unit (UPPM).

“Following the report, UPPM requested APM’s assistance to relocate the students,” he told Bernama.

He added that two boats were used in the operation, with two APM officers dispatched to assist in the evacuation. Kampung Keramuak village chief also took part in the operation.

Meanwhile, Richie Hezron said an APM survey of the flood situation in Kampung Keramuak, Kampung Kuala Keramuak, Kampung Kenang-Kenangan, and Kampung Tenaga Baru this morning found that the water levels have begun to slowly recede.

He advised villagers to remain vigilant and stay updated on the latest flood and weather conditions by obtaining information from reliable sources.
