LAHAD DATU: The Marine Police Force here seized cigarettes, believed with unpaid taxes worth RM47,760 in an unnumbered house at Kampung Puyut on Monday.
Sabah Region Four Marine Police Force Commander, ACP Mohd Nazri Ibrahim, said acting on information, a team of Marine police in a boat inspected the rear side of the house at 6pm.
He said the team found piles of black-coloured plastic containing various brands of cigarettes, believed with unpaid taxes.
The seizures comprised 1,040 packs of Astro Menthol King, 550 packs of Astro Filter King, 200 packs of Tex Light and 200 packs of Gudang Garam Surya.
“All the items were seized and taken to the Lahad Datu Marine Police base,” he said, adding that the offence was committed under the Customs Act 1967.
Mohd Nazri said the seizures were handed over to the Customs Department for further investigation and action.
