Kota Kinabalu: Membakut Assemblyman Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin bin Mohd Arif has lodged a police report over a MalaysiaKini posting titled “Whistleblower: Musa Aman’s son-in-law offered settlement to silence me” published on Feb. 3, this year.

He said the report is a precursor to taking legal action against those involved.

He strongly denied the allegations in the report, saying it was defamatory, malicious and contained inaccurate and misleading allegations, as well as false and defamatory information.

“The news report clearly proves that the said individual, along with their cartel group, will use every trick and deception to obtain mining licences, including defaming me and other individuals.

Cosmobeauté Malaysia and beautyexpo will expand into East Malaysia with the launch of the Cosmobeauté Malaysia Borneo Festival 2026 at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) from May 25 to 26.
“The main motive of this cartel group is to monopolise mining licences in Sabah by spreading false news and misinformation,” he said.

Dr Mohd Arifin, who is also Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) Vice-President, said this at a press conference after lodging the report at Kota Kinabalu City Police Headquarters at Kepayan, Wednesday.

Dr Mohd Arifin, who is also Supreme Council member of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), said MalaysiaKini never contacted him for verification before publishing the report.

“Therefore, I will take legal action against those who have defamed me and colluded with the cartel group attempting to monopolise mining licences in Sabah,” he said.

Asked about the next course of action, Dr Mohd Arifin said the matter would be handled by his lawyers.

“The details will be carried out through the lawyers I have appointed,” he said while thanking everyone who has shown concern regarding this issue.
