PENAMPANG: A fatal accident involving a car and a motorcycle occurred in Penampang on Sunday, with police confirming they received a public report at 5.30am.

Preliminary investigations found that a 26-year-old local man driving a car from Penampang collided with a motorcycle near a furniture shop on Jalan Penampang-Tambunan.

The 31-year-old local motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel, and his body was sent to the Queen Elizabeth I Hospital’s forensic unit for a post-mortem.

The car driver was unharmed and taken to the Penampang police headquarters for further action.

The case is being investigated under Section 44(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, with police urging witnesses to contact Insp Noor Ishamudin Ismail at 017-6703700 and advising the public to avoid sharing images or videos of the scene online.
