KOTA MARUDU: A minor earthquake with a magnitude of 3.8 on the Richter scale was reported in the district, at 10.39am, Monday.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the earthquake occurred at coordinates 6.3 degrees North and 116.8 degrees East and 27km south of Kota Marudu.
It said in a statement that the earthquake, at a depth of 10km, caused tremors in Kota Marudu and the surrounding areas, adding that it would continue to monitor the situation.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) of Sabah said it has not received any calls so far about any damage or untoward incidents.
