Kota Kinabalu: A total of 70 players are competing in the Sandakan leg of the Sabah Junior Tennis competition which started on Thursday until Saturday.
The host has the most number of participants with 29 followed by Kota Kinabalu with 21, Tawau with 13, Lahad Datu with 6 participants and one from Kota Belud.
Sabah Tennis Association president Johnson Koh said the increase in the number of participants this year indicated the development of junior tennis in Sabah is on a good track.
He expressed his appreciation to Sandakan District Tennis Association president Silvester Lawai and his committee for their hard work to prepare the tournament and hoped it would run smoothly.
He also said the second leg will be held in Keningau in June while the third leg will be held in Kota Kinabalu in August.
