Four names submitted by Gagasan Wanita
Redonah said Gagasan Rakyat Women’s wing has 24,000 members while GRS Wanita has 18,000 and is in the process of updating.
Kota Kinabalu: Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah Women’s Wing has submitted four candidates to consider in the state elections, said its Chief, Datuk Redonah Bahanda.

Redonah, who is among those on the list, said it was received by Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Women’s Chief, Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun.

Redonah disclosed that she would be contesting Bandau in Kota Marudu. Her brothers, Datuk Wetrom Bahanda and Datuk Verdon Bahanda are Kota Marudu and Kudat MPs.

“Because in Matunggong there is YB Julita (Datuk Julita Mojunki). GRS wants more women leaders, not less.

“I do not deny that I may have the advantage here but that’s not the main factor in contesting.

“I have been in politics since 2002. I’m no newcomer,” she said at an appreciation luncheon recently.

She said Gagasan Rakyat Women’s wing has 24,000 members while GRS Wanita has 18,000 and is in the process of updating.

“We are 70 per cent ready. The election mood is on. Women’s representation in government is almost meeting the 30 per cent goal but in politics not so.

“I want to continue the struggle for healthcare access to all women and their role as economic developers.

“It will not happen as drastically but in phases as what the GRS Government is doing,” she said referring to the appointment of Senator Anna Bell.

“The coalition is firm in its stand for Sabah,” she said.
