Four thefts solved with arrest of drug suspect

LAHAD DATU: Police detained a 52-year-old foreigner, suspected to be involved in theft at Taman Fajar, on Saturday.

District Police Chief, ACP Dzulbaharin Ismail in a statement said, they received four police reports on burglary at Taman Fajar.

He said, following the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, the suspect wearing a blue baseball cap and tshirt entered the victim’s house yard and stole shoes and clothes.

The modus operandi of the suspect is to enter the victim’s house yard and steal the clothes as well as shoes in the yard.

“Following the report, we have detained a foreigner in front of a small hut in Kampung Panji, Jalan Pantai at about 10.24pm, on the same day.

“The suspect’s arrest has led to the seizure of a knife measuring 18.5cm, a blue cap, a shirt, a pair of jeans and a pair of slippers, near the suspect,” he said.

According to Dzulbaharin, police also seized a packet containing substance believed to be syabu weighing 5.19gram and two rolls of aluminium foil.

Dzulbaharin said, following the suspect’s arrest, the Lahad Datu police believed they had successfully solved four theft cases in 24 hours with estimated losses of RM1,200.

“Urine test conducted on the suspect also found that the suspect tested positive for Methamphetamine and Amphetamine.

“The suspect was now remanded for four days under Section 117 of Criminal Procedure Code and investigation under Section 379 of the Penal Code as well as Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952,” he added.
