TRAFFIC came to a halt along Jalan Lahad Datu-Kunak when a trailer transporting an excavator got stuck on the Sg Dewata-Sabahan bridge, in Lahad Datu, last Saturday.

The excavator had fallen off the trailer, while parts of the upper section of the bridge had collapsed. Many drivers shared videos and photos of the mishap on social media.

Motorists traveling from Tawau/Semporna/Kunak to Lahad Datu or Kota Kinabalu, and vice versa, were unable to continue their journey. A driver, Karim, said many vehicles were unable to proceed as there were no alternative routes available.
