Kota Kinabalu: Rhinos head coach Martin Stano was left disappointed after Sabah FC failed to take all three points against Sri Pahang FC in the Super League tie held at Likas Stadium on Sunday.

They only managed a 2-2 draw despite a dominating display especially in the second half.

“I am rather disappointed with the result as we could have won the game. Our performance was good overall and we were able to dictate the tempo.

“The players worked very hard right from the first minute until the last. We were able to apply a lot of pressure. As a result, Sri Pahang FC did not create as many chances as us and we deserved to score and win the game.

“Our target is always to win matches. Hopefully we will be able to improve in the next match against KL City FC at home,” he said.

The match saw Sabah FC taking the initial lead through Darren Lok’s spot kick in the 21st minute following a foul on Daniel Ting in the box.

However, the joy was short-lived. Sri Pahang FC managed to equalise three minutes later after Adam Nor Azlin’s long range strike hit the post and went in.

They then took an unexpected lead in the 44th minute with another lucky strike from Kpah Sean Sherman, whose intended pass went in at the far post.

Sabah FC’s equaliser came in the 60th minute and it was another successful spot kick from Darren following a foul on S Kumaahran.

Meanwhile, Sri Pahang FC’s head coach Fandi Ahmad was equally disappointed with the stalemate.

“We are disappointed because our aim was to come here and get the maximum points to improve our standing in the league.

“Overall, I think both teams played well and created many chances, but unfortunately we made a lot of mistakes at the back,” he said.

With the draw, Sabah FC remain third in the table standing with 33 points behind Johor Darul Ta’zim FC (55) and Selangor FC (42), while Sri Pahang FC are ninth with 20 points.
