SEMPORNA: The Search and Rescue Operation (SAR) for a 33-year-old man reported missing while fishing near the bridge at Kampung Bukit Lalang, last Sunday, is still ongoing.

The State Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said the operation involved rescue agencies using a rescue boat and Navy’s jet ski who searched within the radius of 2km from the area where the victim was reported missing.

“The victim has yet to be found,” said the spokesperson. The department added that information will be updated from time to time.

On Monday, the department started the search for a man identified as Badrul Rizam Hajis, who failed to return home after heading out for fishing on Feb 16.

The department received a distress call at 7.15am on Monday. The victim’s family told the department that when they went to the fishing spot, they discovered the victim’s car and fishing rod, but no sign of the victim.
