Unemployed man charged with threatening to injure woman
The charge under Section 506 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to seven years or a fine or both, on conviction.
Kota Kinabalu: An unemployed man was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here with threatening to injure a woman.

Jimmy Edward pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Marilyn Kelvin to criminally intimidating Siti Norazia Sebun on Feb 14, this year, at 6.20pm, at a house in Kg Bambangan, Inanam.

The charge under Section 506 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to seven years or a fine or both, on conviction.

Inspector Yusdi Basri, prosecuting, in applying for a pre-trial case management (ptcm) proposed bail at RM5,000. Counsel Lim Ming Zoong @ Lawrence, representing the accused applied for a lower bail amount as he is married and unemployed.

The court set March 26 for ptcm and released the accused on a bail of RM1,600 in two sureties. Jimmy was also facing another charge of taking drugs under Section 15 (1) of the Dangerous Drug Act.

Almin Tajuli pleaded guilty to having a plastic bag containing clothes and trousers which he failed to give satisfactory explanation on how he obtained them on Feb 14, at noon by the roadside of Telipok, Manggatal.

The charge under Section 22A (1) of the Minor Offences Ordinance (MOO) provides a fine of RM100 or up to three months jail or both on conviction.

Unrepresented Almin requested a lenient sentence while the prosecution applied for a deterrent sentence. In the same court, a 57-year-old man claimed trial for having copper cables believed stolen.

Baharudin Padi was accused of having one roll of copper cables, which he failed to give a satisfactory explanation on how he obtained on Feb 10, at noon, behind a shop in Telipok town.

He was also charged under Section 22A (1) of the MOO. The prosecution in applying for a ptcm date offered no bail to the accused as he is a passport holder.

The court set April 22 for ptcm and ordered the accused to be further remanded under Section 259 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
