Sabah Electricity loses RM30mil a year due to illegal connections

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Electricity said they are losing about RM30 million a year due to illegal electricity connections that still occur in the state.

The utility company for Sabah and Labuan in a statement said the losses represent about two percent of the energy loss in the grid system.

Accordingly, they said efforts to combat illegal electricity connections continued to be the company's focus in efforts to strengthen the electricity supply in Sabah this year.

"Sabah Electricity is determined to continuing the momentum in combating illegal connections throughout Sabah. Based on statistics in 2024, a total of 1,000 operations were carried out, 200 of which were Integrated Operations and another 800 were Internal Operations.
