SANDAKAN: Perikatan Nasional will be fielding young candidates in the coming 17th Sabah State Election.
“We are not only looking at the capabilities of veteran politicians but will also include young leaders so that we can champion the future based on the aspirations they bring.
“But what is important is that the framework we provide must be one that is accepted by all levels of society, all ethnicities, and all religions—not just in Sabah but across the entire country,” said Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.
Hamzah, who is also Deputy President of Bersatu Malaysia, said that his party would not be announcing the number of seats they plan to contest at this time. However, he is confident that the candidates they field would be capable of leading Sabah towards a better future.
Present were Bersatu Malaysia Supreme Council Member and Member of Parliament for Indera Mahkota, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah; Sabah Bersatu State Leadership Chairman and MP for Beluran, Datuk Seri Dr. Ronald Kiandee; and Sabah Bersatu State Secretary, Yunus Nurdin.
He also said the slogan “Kasi Bagus Sabah” (Make Sabah Better) is highly relevant to the current situation in Sabah.
“Sabah is in a state of stagnation, which is why we must ensure that we take charge of shaping a better future for Sabah.
“This slogan was introduced by the youth. They were the ones who suggested that this slogan should be the theme of our Jelajah Rakyat series.
“The slogan ‘Kasi Bagus Sabah’ is not just being voiced by the people of Sabah; even I, coming from Peninsular Malaysia, feel the same way,” he said.
He was speaking after attending the Jelajah Sabah Zon 5 (Sabah Tour Zone 5) programme organised by Perikatan Nasional at Dewan Sri Gum-Gum Batu 16 on Friday night.
During the programme, Hamzah also received 300 new Bersatu membership applications from 10 branches in Zone 5.
