SANDAKAN: The Head of State, Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Dr. Musa Haji Aman, began his two-day official visit to Sandakan today.
He was welcomed by nearly 2,000 residents upon arrival at Sandakan Airport, followed by a luncheon at Dewan Sri Libaran attended by over 6,000 people from diverse communities.
Dignitaries present included the Minister of Community Development and People’s Well-being, Datuk James Ratib, state assembly members, Sandakan Municipal Council President Walter Kenson, and community leaders.
Tonight, Tun Musa will host a formal dinner at his residence in Sungai Kayu, with several ministers and local leaders expected to attend.
On Monday he is scheduled to receive a briefing on the delayed Islamic Centre Project at Sungai Kayu.
The project, launched seven years ago, is expected to become a key religious, economic, social, and tourism landmark upon completion. Efforts to address delays and expedite progress will be discussed.
