SANDAKAN: The Head of State Tun Datuk Seri Panglima (Dr) Musa Haji Aman commenced his two-day official visit to Sandakan Sunday.
He was greeted by some 2,000 at Sandakan Airport and a luncheon held in his honor at Dewan Sri Libaran drew more than 6,000 people.
Among those present were the Minister of Community Development and People’s Well-being, Datuk James Ratib, Members of the State Assembly, the President of the Sandakan Municipal Council, Walter Kenson, community leaders, and heads of state and federal government departments.
He also hosted a dinner at his residence in Sungai Kayu.
Today (Monday), he is scheduled to attend a briefing on the delayed Islamic Centre Project at Sungai Kayu. The project, launched seven years ago, has faced delays.
Once completed, the Islamic Centre is expected to become a significant landmark in Sandakan, bringing numerous benefits to the local community and beyond.
Given its religious, economic, social and tourism impact, the completion of the Islamic Centre is highly anticipated. Authorities and stakeholders are expected to discuss measures to overcome the delays and expedite the project’s progress.
