Reconsider the cancelled RM4 billion Trans-Sabah Gas Pipeline plan: LDP
Chin argues if the justification for scrapping the pipeline is to reallocate domestic natural gas for other strategic sectors such as electricity and petrochemicals, then clear and transparent plans must be presented to the public.
Kota Kinabalu: The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) strongly urges the Federal government to reconsider its decision to cancel the RM4 billion Trans-Sabah Gas Pipeline (TSGP) project, as it is a critical infrastructure investment necessary for Sabah’s long-term energy security and economic growth.

LDP President Datuk Chin Su Phin said the repeated cancellations of the TSGP project have left Sabahans questioning whether the Federal government is truly committed to developing Sabah’s energy infrastructure or merely shifting responsibilities to the state without the necessary financial and technical support.

“The announcement by Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli that the federal government has no plans to proceed with the project is deeply disappointing.

“While we acknowledge that the Federal government has transferred the regulatory authority of gas supply to the Sabah State government as of January 2023, this alone does not equate to meaningful empowerment.
