SIPITANG: A house was destroyed in a fire at Kampung Kalamauh, Mesapol, at about 4.51pm, last Sunday.

District Fire and Rescue Station Chief, Calvin Joe Jeafery, said firefighters responded to the distress call and despatched the team to Jalan Teratak along with FRT and EMRS machinery after receiving the Mers999 call.

“The semi-permanent house block measured 25x36ft that was burnt up to 90 per cent. A motorcycle was also destroyed,” he said.

Extinguishing operations used a 200ft stream and two open water fountains from a nearby ditch.

No casualties were reported and the Fire Department is still investigating the cause and estimated loss.
