LABUAN: Residents here are happy that factors hindering the resumption of the long-awaited Labuan-Kota Kinabalu express ferry have been resolved and that the service is expected to commence soon.
“The strong commitment of the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) to rejuvenate tourism deserves credit.
“I believe it is the hope of many here and in Sabah that the service will resume before Hari Raya to handle the surge in marine passenger traffic,” said activist Lau Seng Kiat.
Lau said it was strange that a simple issue of reviving the service needed high-level representatives from Federal and Sabah in order to be settled.
“All it needed was just a phone call.”
