“The second strategy focuses on improving the development of healthcare facilities in Sabah, while the third aims to strengthen health services to ensure the highest quality of care.

“The fourth strategy involves enhancing human resource capacity, and the final strategy seeks to increase financial allocations for operational management,” she said after a courtesy call on Head of State Tun Musa Aman at Istana Seri Kinabalu recently.

Dr. Maria said the visit aimed to strengthen cooperation between JKNS and the State Government while discussing plans for better healthcare development in the state.

On food safety concerns, Dr Maria said JKNS is monitoring the sale of gummy eyeball candies, which were recently banned by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM).

“In Sabah, food safety regulation falls under the purview of the Food Safety and Quality Division.

“So far, no such cases have been reported in the state, but we are continuing enforcement under the existing Food Act,” she said.

She also stressed that strict action will be taken against any parties violating food regulations, particularly regarding packaging, product size, and types of food that could pose risks to consumers.
