MEMBAKUT: The Membakut State Assemblyman’s Office (Adun) will organise various religious programmes throughout Ramadan in the area.
Its Assemblyman, Datuk Dr. Ariffin Arif, said that among the planned events are the Majlis Tadarus Al-Quran Perdana, Nasyid and Azan Competitions, ‘bercucul’ (torchlight procession), and many other activities to enrich the holy month.
“These programmes will take place across all eight sub-districts or Polling District Centres (PDM), including every village in the area.
“We will also hold a gathering with mualaf (new Muslim converts), where contributions will be distributed to 600 mualaf. This has been our annual programme for the past 10 years,” he said.
He said this during the Ramadan Gift Presentation Ceremony at Dewan Sri Wawasan Kampung Pimping on Feb 28.
Ariffin, who is also the Science, Technology and Innovation Minister, said 3,466 Ramadan gift packs were distributed to Household Heads (KIR) celebrating Ramadan across Membakut, funded under the Assemblyman’s allocation and coordinated with grassroots community leaders.
He noted that approximately 100 traders will benefit from this initiative, which aims to support their businesses, particularly in terms of start-up capital.
“As in previous years, we are helping them generate income and, to some extent, ease their financial burden, especially for business capital,” he said.
