KOTA KINABALU: The National Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (PRABN) has issued an early flood forecast for several districts in Sabah following a continuous rain warning by the Malaysian Meteorological Department on Thursday (March 6).
Flooding is expected between Friday and Saturday (March 7 and 8) in the West Coast Division, including Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, and Tuaran, affecting river basins such as Sungai Kinarut, Sungai Papar, and Sungai Moyog.
In the Interior Division, areas at risk include Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Keningau, and Tambunan, with potential flooding in river basins such as Sungai Padas, Sungai Pegalan, and Sungai Sunsuron.
Authorities warn that floods may occur earlier or later than predicted and urge residents in high-risk areas to remain vigilant and follow instructions from relevant agencies.
