Kota Kinabalu: Sabah PKR continues negotiations over seat allocations among Pakatan Harapan (PH) components to prevent a deadlock with potential allies or any perception of internal divisions.
Sabah PKR chief Datuk Mustapha Sakmud stressed that while the party aims to uphold the Madani government, it remains open to working with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) despite contesting overlapping seats like Tempasuk.
Responding to Parti Warisan and Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM)'s decision to contest the 17th Sabah Election independently, he said ruling out partnerships is not a viable option in Sabah’s political landscape.
Mustapha revealed that 24 Sabah PKR branches have been dissolved following meetings, except for Beaufort, which was delayed due to recent flooding, and confirmed that the PKR Political Bureau has taken over the now-defunct State Leadership Council.
He added that candidates for party elections will be announced on March 14, with online polling set for April 15, while Sabah PKR information chief Razeed Rakimin is among two Sabah representatives vying for a Central Leadership Committee seat.
