KOTA KINABALU: A 53-year-old driver entrusted with transporting two minors to and from kindergarten has been charged with sexually assaulting them in a village in Tuaran.
Rusli Japar pleaded guilty before Sessions Court Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan on Thursday to three counts of physical and sexual harassment.
The court deferred sentencing to March 25, as the prosecution stated that case facts were incomplete and certain documents required verification.
Rusli was ordered to remain in custody after the prosecution objected to bail, citing his residence in the same area as the alleged victims.
Charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, Rusli faces up to 20 years in jail and whipping if convicted.
